Daintree Discovery Centre – Multi Award Winner!

The Centre has won multiple accolades with recognition in local, state and international awards. This recognition covers business management, staff training and development, eco-friendly building design, as well as numerous tourism awards; Ecotourism, Tourist Attraction and the Qantas award for Sustainable Tourism.

With a democratic approach to management everyone is encouraged to participate in the running of the Centre. All staff have designated areas of responsibility and are empowered to make decisions. The team look after day to day operations and are rewarded for their efforts.

When asked the secret of their success, Directors, Pam and Ron Birkett said that they put great store in team work and both individual and collective ideas are encouraged. They tend to ‘work on the business, rather than in the business’. That way they can focus on what they do best and everyone gets maximum job satisfaction out of being a valued member of the team.
